Awards of Excellence in Student Success
Description:
The DSS Awards of Excellence honor exceptional individuals within the Division of Student Success who have made significant contributions to student outcomes, engagement, and holistic support. These awards celebrate staff members who have demonstrated excellence in fostering a culture of student success through innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to enhancing the overall student experience. Nominees must provide measurable evidence of their impact, such as improvements in student retention, graduation rates, or engagement with essential campus services. Successful candidates exemplify the values of teamwork and student-centered service, making a meaningful impact on the academic, personal, and professional development of Texas State University students.
Eligibility:
- Nominations are open to individuals working across various student support services within the Division of Student Success including Facilities Services Staff, Administrative Services Staff, Professional Staff and a Graduate Assistant.
- Nominees must hold a position below the Department Director level.
- All nominees in full-time positions must have a minimum of two years of employment within the Division of Student Success.
- Graduate Assistant Staff who are nominated must have been in their current role for at least one semester.
- Self-nominations are not accepted. Nominations must be submitted by colleagues or supervisors who can speak to the nominee’s achievements and impact.
- Nominations must include the name and email of the Department Director for their approval. The Department Director’s approval is necessary for final submission.
Nomination deadline is March 31, 2025
Criteria for the Award:
The selection committee will evaluate nominees based on, but not limited to, the following criteria:
- Achievement of Student Success Goals: Nominee demonstrates measurable success in advancing the goals and objectives of the Division of Student Success such as improving student retention, engagement, or graduation rates.
- Exceptional Service: Nominee provides outstanding service that positively impacts the department, Division of Student Success, Texas State University students, and the broader university community, fostering a student-centered environment.
- Innovation and Initiative: Nominee exhibits creativity and proactive approaches in their work, contributing innovative solutions that support departmental and divisional goals, and enhancing the overall student experience.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Nominee actively participates in collaborative efforts across departments, campus, or the community, contributing to cross-functional initiatives, committees, teams, workgroups, and/or professional development.
- Impact on Student Success: Nominee makes a significant, measurable contribution to student success through programs or services that enhance student engagement, access, support, health, wellness, or the residential experience.
